Various – Palermo Shooting Original Soundtrack (7/10)

Clearly a man who knows how to pull together a stellar movie soundtrack when he needs one, Wim Wenders calls upon Nick Cave, Portishead, Bonnie Prince Billy, even the Velvet Underground (Lou Reed appears in the film) to contribute a track or two to liven up his latest project.

Making the collection even tastier is the fact that many of these tracks are previously unreleased, recorded specially for the film (including the contributions by Cave and Bonnie Prince Billy). Add to that some well-chosen older tracks from Iron & Wine, Beirut, and Calexico, interludes by Can’s Irmin Schmidt, and a dash of new talent, and you have a very solid package.
